Bryan County Workforce Housing [On the Boards][On Hold]
Year(s): 2023-
Location: Bryan County, Georgia [Unbuilt]
Working for sister company Solsbury Hill Development in its partnership with Greenhaven Development alongside land planning firm Breedlove Land Planning, Centripetal Works helped develop a conceptual design approach for a 48.9 acre site in unincorporated Bryan County, Georgia. Conceived to help provide more and better housing choices for new residents to Bryan County associated with its new Hyundai factory, Centripetal Works helped with the design and visualization of a series of twelve-unit, gentle-density cottage courts carefully laid out on the site in order to utilize existing wetlands and wildlife areas for recreation and the management of stormwater. The design also included shared community amenities that included space for child-care facilities, community gardens, and a dog park.
The 157 housing units envisioned for the site featured a mix of stock two and three-bedroom modular home designs by Affinity Modular Systems and custom two-bedroom modular carriage townhomes over garages designed by Centripetal Works. Greenhaven set the goal of making each unit of the development certified to the US Department of Energy’s Net-Zero Energy Ready Home program in order to improve the cost efficiency and resiliency of the development with a limited number of units slated to be fully net-zero energy homes fitted with photovoltaic panels.
